Thousands Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Nearly 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the area, producing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that various areas across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests
At the height on Sunday, more than 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both regions.
Medical Alert
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the region.
